In the recent years, the amount of data moving through mobile networks is radically growing, causing a direct increase in the use of the GTP protocol, as it is necessary to carry these data across the networks. GTP uses both Control Plane protocol (GTP-c) and User Plane protocol (GTP-u) to carry subscriber application traffic from the subscriber device to the internet. The correct monitoring procedure for the GTP protocol requires correlating Control Plane and User Plane sessions in order to send consistent and usable data flows to any probe. To ensure full visibility Telecom Operators need to get access to the subscriber’s traffic within the GTP tunnels, in order to feed the monitoring tools with all of the identified subscriber’s control and data sessions.
The Solution
Microtel Innovation offers to Telecom Operators the right tool. Our eXpert GTP Load Balancers correlate the whole GTP traffic (IMSI based) and distribute the traffic across many probes in a session-aware balanced mode, sending all the flows belonging to the same subscriber to the same probe.
