Today, mixed architectures TDM and IP coexist in telecommunication world, becoming a strong barrier to Service Providers who want, or need, to monitor TDM links.
In fact, Operators have to monitor the legacy networks, at least in the critical points and, on the other side, they are reluctant to invest in TDM tools, which are gradually phasing out, preferring to monitor the whole infrastructure using IP monitoring tools.
Microtel Innovation developed the appropriate solution to answer this challenge: the Ethernizer family.

Microtel’s Ethernizer family products are the solution to this challenge, enabling operators to manage a mixed infrastructure with the same tools, bringing all-locations and all layers visible to the Centralized Monitoring System through the IP Probes, no matter if IP or TDM technology is used.
Moreover it doesn’t matter if TDM traffic runs far from the IP probe, since Ethernizers allow to backhaul traffic thanks to the L2GRE/NVGRE tunnel encapsulation functionality.
In more details Microtel Innovation Ethernizers support:
- Convertion of SS7 Signalling (MTP-2 or ATM) to SIGTRAN (M2UA or M3UA)
- Convertion of ISDN E1/PRI (LAPD-Channel D) to SIGTRAN (IUA),
- Convertion of VOICE (MTP-2) over STM-1 links to RTP.
